Hexagon has updated software and libraries.

IMPORTANT: The new MPI, cray-mpich 6.0.0, is based on MPICH3 and is NOT binary compatible with version 5.x which is based on MPICH2. Therefore all parts/libraries used in your code needs to be compiled with the same MPI version (either 5.x or 6.x). Similarly, to use the latest installed version of e.g. netcdf libraries you must use MPI 6.x.

See http://docs.cray.com/books/S-9407-1306//S-9407-1306.pdf for full information.

We have to unmount /work-common from Hexagon because of HW issues with the /work-common MDS server.

We are working to fix this problem ASAP.

Update 21:35: We have moved MDS to one of the OSTs until MDS HW is fixed. The file system can have slightly degraded performance. It should be available on all compute nodes and login nodes, except login5. We are working to make it available on login5 as well.

Update 14.05 13:00 : /work-common is back on login5

Hexagon has updated software/libraries.

Please see the following for full information about fixes and limitations:

Hexagon will have a scheduled maintenance on April 3rd from 10:00. We expect to be back up again in the evening the same day.

During maintenance we are planning to update software releases of SMW and CNL and finish migration of /work/shared to /work-common/shared.

A reservation is in place as such as jobs starting before the maintenance and finishing after can not be submitted.

Update: 22:54 The maintenance has been finished.

Hexagon has updated software and libraries.

The full description will come soon to http://docs.cray.com/relnotes/
as "Programming environment release announcement for Cray XE..."
